    http://data.postandcourier.com/whisper-campaign/

    Gegen Clinton:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FECIYlo3KRY

    Gegen Trump:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onUaRyvfv1A

    Gegen Rubio:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRWIj6os4L4

    http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/gop-deathmatch-three-men-will-enter-the-winn er-will-probably-lose-to-trump-anyway/

    Trump 36,3 / Cruz 19,6 / Rubio 14,6 / Bush 10,9 / Kasich 8,7 / Carson 4,7

Protecting the privacy of law-abiding citizens from the government is a pillar of Ted Cruz's Republican presidential candidacy, but his campaign is testing the limits of siphoning personal data from supporters.

His "Cruz Crew" mobile app is designed to gather detailed information from its users' phones — tracking their physical movements and mining the names and contact information for friends who might want nothing to do with his campaign.

That information and more is then fed into a vast database containing details about nearly every adult in the United States to build psychological profiles that target individual voters with uncanny accuracy. [...]

After finishing a distant third in New Hampshire, Cruz is looking to boost the turnout of likely supporters in South Carolina and in Southern states with primaries on March 1, where voters are more evangelical and conservative.

The son of mathematicians and data processing programmers, Cruz is keenly and personally interested in the work.

We are in danger of driving this into the dirt!"

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05rCbj-v5ms

I don't think there's ever been a presidential debate where so many of the candidates have called each other liars so many times. At some moments the trash talking and chest-puffing and general drama got so intense I thought this might be a fair approximation of West Side Story if you'd written it about two battling country clubs, the plutocrats versus the plutocrat flunkies.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/what-was-that

Kasich seemed genuinely disheartened and baffled by the sheer childishness of his rivals, muttering, “I got to tell ya, this is just crazy. This is just nuts. Geez, oh, man.”

David Frum, former speechwriter for George W. Bush, seemed to agree, when he tweeted about the audience booing Trump like he was a wrestling match villain, “And the audience is joining in the bloodbath. Does this look to America like a party ready to govern anything?”

The answer is no: The Republicans don’t look like they are ready to govern anything because they have become Trumpized—i.e., by definition, they have resorted to a childish state of pouting and invective. This is not a party that can govern, but rather needs governing.

    https://newrepublic.com/article/129918/republican-primary-now-giant-kindergarten -spat

Donald Trump blamed the Bush administration for failing to heed CIA warnings before 9/11; denounced the Iraq War for destabilizing the Middle East; defended the use of eminent domain; promised to save Social Security without trimming benefits; and credited Planned Parenthood for “wonderful things having to do with women's health.”

He’s fresh off a crushing victory in New Hampshire, and the prohibitive favorite in the polls in South Carolina. Will his flouting of Republican orthodoxy sink his chances—or is it his very willingness to embrace these heterodox stances that has fueled his rise?

    http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/02/the-republicans-debate-in-gr eenville/462750/

Wow.

As Trump has defied his skeptics, evaluations of his political acumen have grudgingly embraced the conclusion that there is a method to his madness. But on Saturday night, he took the madness to a completely new level. By the normal standards of politics, Trump swallowed enough poison to kill himself ten times over. If he survives, it will be the strongest evidence that he has forged a connection with Republican voters that resides beyond any plane visible to the rest of us.

    http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/02/most-heretical-debate-yet-trump-att acks-w.html

I’m done. Until the fundamental dynamic of the GOP primary race changes, I’m done with parsing debate winners and losers. So long as Donald Trump dominates an overly-large field of ambitious, fratricidal competitors, we will continue to see absurdities like the following:
    1. Trump — the Republican front-runner, no less — borrowing language from MoveOn.org and Daily Kos to advance the absurd “Bush lied, people died” Iraq War narrative, attacking his fellow Republicans with far more fury than even Hillary Clinton can muster.
    2. Trump repeatedly and loudly holding George Bush responsible for 9/11 and the fall of the World Trade Center.
    3. An extended GOP defense of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, courtesy of Ohio’s extraordinarily sanctimonious John Kasich. Using talking points that Democrats would envy, he cloaked his embrace of an inferior, third-class government insurance program in the language of compassion and fiscal responsibility. In an ordinary race, Kasich would be long gone — shoved aside by genuine conservatives and an afterthought even in moderate New Hampshire.
    4. Trump (yes, him again) actually extolling the virtues of Planned Parenthood on a GOP debate stage. [...]
    5. An actual presidential candidate acting like an angry drunk — interrupting candidates, calling them names, and creating a social dynamic where the other GOP candidates either ignore him — and look weak — or engage him and risk lowering themselves to his shouting and name-calling level.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prior to the debate, the Republican Party decided not to use a lottery system to decide who should be in the audience. Instead, most tickets went to elected Republican officials, donors, and other workers for the party picked by local, state, and national party officials. The result, it seems, is the room was packed with Republican voters who overwhelmingly dislike Trump.

Was das bewirkt? Keine Ahnung.

Cruz and Trump also battled over conservative credentials. Cruz said Trump has backed liberal policies for most of his life, saying, “You shouldn't be flexible on core principles.”

Trump returned fire, saying Cruz was the “single biggest liar,” a “nasty guy” who “will say anything.”

“You,” Trump said, “probably are worse than Jeb Bush.”

    http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-02-14/the-you-lie-debate-republi cans-running-out-of-time-to-stop-trump-in-south-carolina

Perhaps Republicans should consider cancelling the rest of the debates. They aren't helping the cause of electing a Republican to the White House in November—quite the contrary. The personal animus that now surfaces is nasty and off-putting.

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/cockfight-in-south-carolina/article/2001080

Donald Trump was so awful, so horrible, so disgusting in the latest Republican debate — his lies, his distortions, his deceits, and his libels thicker and fouler than they’ve yet been—that he’s done us all a favor. If he wins easily in South Carolina after his monstrous turn, he’ll be going straight to the Republican nomination.

Such a victory in a classically conservative state like South Carolina after his romp in idiosyncratic New Hampshire will prove Trump’s repellent personality is the real key to his success. You want me to delineate his dishonesties? That would be like asking me to count how many breaths he took. [...]

So you want to know how Jeb did? His best debate yet. And Marco Rubio? He was sensational. Did what he had to do. Got off the mat and got himself back in the fight. Winner on points. Ted Cruz was mostly off his game, but still had very good moments. John Kasich too, trying to play the “I’m positive” candidate. (Ben Carson? Whatever.)

So what. I’d like to believe that what they did and how they performed matters. But hard experience over the past nine months tells me different. This debate was about Trump, not about them. He made sure of that, as usual.

He interrupts, he yells over them, he insults them, he goes over his allotted time, and the whirlwind he creates turns into a vacuum that sucks all the air out of the place and right into his attention-whore lungs.

They won’t do it back, and who can blame them. They’re hungry, ambitious, even desperate men—but they still operate according to basic rules of elementary human conduct. [...]

Alas, just as you don’t bring a knife to a gunfight, you can’t bring disapprobation to a showdown with Hannibal Lecter and hope to survive. You have to eat his liver with fava beans and a good chianti before he eats yours. How? How the hell do I know? But I’m not running for president. They are.

And the thing is, he might have eaten all their livers already.

    http://nypost.com/2016/02/13/trump-was-out-of-control-in-south-carolina-debate/

MANY ingredients went into making Donald Trump. An under-appreciated one is the distinctively German, or rather Kallstadtian, tinge to his family history. Mr Trump is descended from German immigrants who arrived in America penniless and succeeded quickly through hard work, a free relationship with the truth, opportunism, shrewd business tactics and a great sense of family loyalty. Fred Trump, Donald’s father, who was a strict taskmaster with all his five children, told his three sons to be “killers”.

Fred Trump’s father, Friedrich Trump, came to America in 1885 as a 16-year-old from Kallstadt, a village in Rhineland-Palatinate, a region known for wine and stuffed pig’s stomach. [...]

When Fred Trump was 11 America entered the first world war and a period of intense anti-German sentiment followed, abating in the interwar years and then flaring up again during the second world war. German books were burnt, sauerkraut was renamed “liberty cabbage” and frankfurters became “hot dogs”. Friedrich died of Spanish flu in 1918 at the age of only 49 and left Fred and his mother a tidy sum of money, which they used to set up a company, E. Trump & Son, and invested in property. After graduation from high school in 1923, Fred started to work full-time in construction. He realised quickly that his German origins could be a hindrance, so he pretended that his parents were Swedish, though his mother spoke English with a thick German accent and baked Apfeltorte for family reunions. [...]

The Trumps were typical of German-Americans, the country’s biggest single ethnic group, in trying so hard to assimilate and obscuring their origins. [...]

The braggadocious Mr Trump has probably more Kallstadt in him than he knows. The people of Kallstadt are affectionately known as Brulljesmacher, meaning braggart in the regional dialect. Were he to become president, Mr Trump would not be the first occupant of the White House of German descent. Dwight Eisenhower’s family was originally called Eisenhauer and hailed from Karlsbrunn, close to the German-French border. Herbert Hoover’s ancestors were called Huber and came from Baden in southern Germany. They both made little of their origins—but they did not go so far as to invent new ones.

    http://www.economist.com/news/united-states/21692909-how-german-heritage-he-has- hidden-shaped-donald-trump-kallstadts-king?fsrc=scn/fb/te/pe/ed/kallstadtsking

What is a “push poll”? - Mark Blumenthal, from 2006: “[T]he important thing to remember is that a ‘push poll’ is not a poll at all. It's a fraud, an attempt to disseminate information under the guise of a legitimate survey. The proof is in the intent of the person doing it….You want to spread the rumor or exploit the issue without leaving fingerprints. So you hire a telemarketer to make phone calls that pretend to be a political poll. You ‘ask’ only a question or two aimed at spreading the rumor (example: ‘would you be more or less likely to support John McCain if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate child who was black?’). You want to make as many calls as quickly as possible, so you do not bother with the time consuming tasks performed by most real pollsters...Again, the proof is in the intent: If the sponsor intends to communicate a message to as many voters as possible rather than measure opinions or test messages among a sample of voters, it qualifies as a ‘push poll.’

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/south-carolina-primary-cruz-trump_us_56bddcf 0e4b08ffac124ad55?utm_hp_ref=%40pollster

The stakes couldn't be higher here and everyone knows it. If a Democratic President can replace Scalia with a young Ruth Ginsburg, the Democratic appointees would have a clear majority on all cases, with or without Anthony Kennedy. The Democrats would love for such a Court to revisit Citizens United, the Voting Rights Act, and quite a few other cases. In addition to all the complications for the candidates, the Court itself has a problem. A number of controversial cases are before the Court right now. They could easily end up 4-4, in which case the lower court ruling holds and no national precedent is made. [...]

The election of a Democratic President and confirmation of Scalia's successor could have a domino effect. Ruth Ginsburg has had cancer twice. She may or may not survive for 4 years, but would probably step down as soon as it was clear the President could get his or her nominees through. [...]

Rick Hasen, one of the foremost authorities on election law in the country, has written an excellent piece [electionlawblog.org] on the implications of Scalia's death. He says that the choice of who replaces Scalia is the most important civil rights issue of our time, more important than racial justice, marriage equality, voting rights, money in politics, abortion rights, gun rights, or climate change.
